Athletics Day

When I was 8 years old, our school had an Athletics Day. We all competed in lots of events, like High Jump, Long Jump, Vortex, Shot Put, Discus and Sprints.
First we did Shot Put, then it was sprints. It was held on the green grassy field. The columns stretched 100m straight. All the boys lined up between the thin lanes. We got set up into groups of two.The first thing I knew, all of them were nervous. “On your marks, get set,” Bang! The gun went off. Everyone zoomed off as fast as lightning, sprinting their legs off, heading to the finish line, breathing, coughing, sweating as much as rain, but James came in first place and he won! He had a loud breathe as he gave his score to the teacher, tired and happily.

Easy, peasy, simple as ABC! he said to himself.Next, it was Discus. It was held on the soccer field. It was like a V with a circle on the tip of the V. Josh picked up black, round and smooth, gold disk and pushed his arms and legs, with the disk gliding in the air and made a dent in the ground. Again, he picked another disk, hoping for a great and far distance, and he pushed the smooth disk in the air, and, this time, he made it further than the other one, and, finally, he picked up the last disk and threw it and I think the disk went out.
It was my turn. I did my 1st attempt and threw the disk and it made a small distance, then it was my 2nd attempt and, again, it made a small distance. It was my last shot, then I remembered what had happened last year and I didn’t want that to happen again. I threw it and it went 11m and I won!
“Yay”!
Finally, it was the finals for the sprints. It was held at the same place that the the sprint heats were held. There was a Final A and a Final B. I was in the Final B for the 50m run and in the Final A for the 80m run. First, it was the Final A. Mr Emms came with the gun. The boys had a deep breath. “On your marks, get set,” Bang!
They ran as fast as they could. They were even faster than sprinting. It was like the finish line was trying to catch them halfway there, and James won again. He was the top sprinter in our age group. H
e got a round, orange, plastic disc without any silky ropes attached to it.
It was a fun day, but I was very tired when I got home from school that afternoon.

Pet Day

At St Paul’s, all the children brought their pets to show off because it was Pet Day.
All the pets came, except the dogs. A colourful bird sounded as silent as a grave as it flew very fast.
Next was the Pet Parade. It was held  on the courts. A square of children surrounded all the  pets. Some sounded really, really loud and some were as silent as a grave. I thought they looked amazing.
After that, the dogs came. One of the dogs was black and brown with a medium sized tail and it zoomed past very fast with his tongue hanging out. I felt excited because soon the Dog Parade would be starting.
Finally it was the Dog Parade. Some dogs did cool tricks, but the one I liked, was Cleveland's trick. I think it was called The Fastest Dog In The Universe. Cleveland would run around the field while his dog was chasing him, while he was getting chased. Cleveland’s dog got a friend to help him catch Cleveland and the dogs caught up and tied with Cleveland.
I thought it was a great day.

King Arthur's Castle

Mrs Death read us the story of King Arthur, then we used three different pieces of paper and combined them to show what his castle looked like.

Earthquake Steps

Drop, cover and hold are three steps if there is an earthquake.
Drop to the ground and find protection
eg, table or desk.
If the desk or table shake, shake with it .
Cover your neck and head (and your entire body if possible)
Hold your shelter. Hold around a solid pole until the shaking stops.
This morning, our class had an earthquake drill. When my teacher said, "Earthquake!" everyone dropped to the ground and went under their desks. They put their arm around the leg of their desk and covered their heads and their necks. We pushed the chairs down so it would look like a real earthquake had happened, but first, we read a sheet about earthquakes. We went carefully to the field.

The Next World

Once upon a time, there were three kings who lived in the 8th century and were in Egypt. The kings' names were Seth, Lane and Siprese.
They were trying to travel to the next world without sacrificing themselves.

One day, one of the kings looked at the map.The map said how to travel to the next world.
When Amun, creator God, heard that the three kings had found the map, he felt angry, so he told Harthor, god of love and beauty, to not give the kings supplies. But Osiris, husband of Harthor and god of death and rebirth, liked people coming to his kingdom.
Seth brought twenty guards with him. When they got there, Seth said, “Why are there two gods?’’
Osiris said, “This is Aman, Creator God. When you found the map, he got angry.”
“Why?’’ said all the kings.
“Because it wasn’t for you,” said Amun.
“Ok, here you go, but can we have a look around?”

“Yes,” said Osiris.

The Wizard of Oz

Tomorrow, we are having a school production, The Wizard of Oz, and I am a Tinman dancer. I have to dance with a girl. Her name is Nicole. I'm feeling pretty nervous because everyone might laugh at me and I will be embarassed. I like the part where they go to see the Wizard of Oz because it is really clever that they chose a tall person and they turn off the lights and they show a shadow of him.

My name is Moses and I like sports, especially soccer. I don't belong to a soccer team but I do belong to a rugby league team. This year, I got five goals every game, except three. I am vice-captain of my team. Our rugby league season has now finished for 2012.
